Breaking: MEND Threatens to Commence Attacks from April 5

A statement issued by the Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Wednesday, stated that the group will commence attacks in the country over the trial and subsequent imprisonment
of its leader, Henry Okah by a court in South Africa. The statement which was signed by MEND’s spokesperson, Jomo Gbomo said the purported hostilities is to protest “a forged letter written by the Federal Government to the South African government which was used as evidence against Okah during his trial.” MEND said that the attacks will commence from 00:00 hours on Friday, April 5, but was silent on the targeted locations. The militant group threatens that the attacks will be sustained until an unreserved apology is tendered to MEND and the Federal Government shows it willingness to dialogue.
