A third incident in Gwoza, another Borno State community, was said to have resulted in the  death   of unspecified number of Boko Haram commanders.

2015: APC takes battle to Jonathan’s stronghold •South-South, South-East to get top slots

2015: APC takes battle to Jonathan’s stronghold •South-South, South-East to get top slots

The newly registered All Progressives Congress has launched a charm offensive to woo the South-East and South-South zones, which are considered to be the strongholds of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Our source gathered on Friday that the party, having realised its weakness and President Jonathan’s strength in the two zones, has decided to revisit the zoning of its offices.

Source told our correspondents that the mega opposition party might zone its vice-presidential ticket and top party offices to the South-East and South-South. Currently, the new party has a governor in the two zones apiece.

President Jonathan is from the South-South, Vice-President Namadi Sambo (North-West); Senate President David Mark (North-Central); the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal (North-West); Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim (South-East); Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu (South-East); and Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha (South-East).

An  APC chief, who confided in one of our correspondents, said, “We believe that we should not have any problem in the North-West, North-East, North-Central and the South-East.

“But we need to do more work in the South-East and South-South. From all indications, President Goodluck Jonathan will get the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential ticket. He has strong support in the two zones. We, therefore, need to neutralise him there.

Patience Jonathan lied against me -Amaechi,

The Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, on Friday said the wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, lied against him in her public account of the misunderstanding between him and the President’s wife a few weeks ago.
The governor spoke in Port Harcourt when clergymen of the Niger Delta Bishops Forum paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House.

He said it was important for the public to have a true picture of what transpired between him and the President’s wife.
He said, “I want to be put on record that the wife of the President said when my wife came to beg me, I pushed her away. I have never quarrelled with my wife publicly and I will never quarrel with my wife publicly.
“There was no time I pushed my wife away and there is no time I will push my wife away. I just want to correct that so that nobody goes away with the impression that somebody told my wife, ‘go and talk to your husband, she came and I pushed her away’.

Nollywood Actress - I’m Married But Please Don’t Publish It

It's Unbelievable Many still wonder why someone has to be married and hide it but for the Nollywood actress, Queen Nwokoye, her reason for keeping her marriage from public eyes might be very serious.

Hear her, “I am going to say this now, but I do not know if I would actually want you to publish it. It is that I am married! This is a crazy job; my home is where I find peace and that is why I do not like exposing it to people. This is because it is a crazy world out there and that is where I get my peace. I go home and I am treated like a wife, like a woman and I feel like a normal human being. That is why I keep it away from my job, my film life. Because I am married, when it comes to men, I stay far.”

Who Owns The Br***sts?(A MUST READ)

Some women were discussing at a round table and they were caught lamenting on motherhood and its pains.
Joy  started, “since I brought forth my children, I have not allowed my husband lay his hands on me because it is frustrating to cater for both father and child.
Her friend in affirmation said, “my dear, look at me, who would know I am still in my early 30’s but look at me, I look like a 50-year-old woman, my husband treats me like his toy, in fact from this evening, when I get back home, I must claim full ownership of my body! I don’t even understand who owns my boobs again, by the time my husband and his son start disturbing me at night. I need my life back and I need to feel young again.
Their third friend further added in a rather distraught manner, you ladies need to see the way I run from my husband when he comes back from work. Mi o le wa ku o!. He actually behaves as if he is the one who created my whole body.  Na wah O !” God help us.
A woman who had come to buy something in the same eatery in which the three friends sat decided to find out the answer to this controversy by asking readers to air their views.
Excerpts:

Don’t be deterred or weary, we shall overcome evil – Jonathan By The Citizen

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday at the third Presidential National Prayer Breakfast meeting held at banquet hall, urged Nigerians not to be deterred or weary over the present security challenges facing assuring that the nation will surely overcome.

The President who noted that the National Prayer started in 2010 was meant to seek God’s help in the assignment of leading the nation, added that it was not a jamboree but a reminder for all to join spiritual energies to ask God to assist in giving the right guidance.

The President noted that the providence has placed each and every one at various posts at this particular time in the nation’s journey to greatness, therefore Nigerians must “be hopeful, focused and watchful to overcome all that is evil confronting our nation. We should note the saying of the scriptures that with men, it is impossible but with God all things are possible”.

Jonathan said further, “It is worthy to note that this breakfast prayer is coming after the Easter, a period when every Christian is expected to be focused, re-dedicated and reborn. With this renewed spiritual state, we should be poised on uplifing prayer. We are gathered here this morning not as a jamboree or one off activity but as a reminder for us to join our spiritual energies to pray to God to fill us with wisdom, strength, courage and guidance to make and implement right decisions for our nation.

“In our various homes and offices, we are all agents so we should pray now and always for divine guidance.

I might still marry a younger man –Queen Ure

Former pastor-turned singer, Queen Ure, talks about her estranged husband, Soul E, the collapse of her church, her alleged affair with her producer, Dude Tetsola, and other issues in this interview with ’Nonye Ben-Nwankwo
How has it been all this while?
Things have been great. I launched my album, Porpori, last year. I have become a professional singer. Music has always been a part of me and I knew there would come a time that I would go fully into it. I think that time has come. My video has been on air for a while.
What is the album all about?
It is a 15-track album. It has different kinds of music, such as hip hop, gospel, R and B. It is an expression of the totality of who I am.
What is happening to your banking career?
I have worked in several banks such as Diamond Bank, Platinum Bank and FinBank and I was part of the executive of Centage Bank. But that was in the past. I am no longer in the banking sector though I still work with the corporate sector. I still train and coach. But music is the number one thing I do. Every other thing is secondary. Life comes in stages. You get to a particular point and you know that this is the time for something different. It was wonderful being in the corporate world. It was a platform and foundation for me to get into who I am in terms of the talent I have.

Husband Snatching: Foluke Daramola, Bukola At War

The controversy surrounding the marriage of Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola to Kayode Salako is far from over as Bukola, her friend, has lashed out at her for snatching another woman’s husband.
Bukola, who stormed P.M.NEWS office Thursday, said she didn’t introduce Foluke to Kayode so that both of them would get married, but to enable cash-strapped Foluke to get financial assistance from Kayode.
Kayode was happily married before he met Foluke. His marriage then crashed and he’s now married to Foluke.

One subject of discussion that actress Foluke Daramola will not welcome at a dinner table is Bukola Fasuyi. It was not always that way. Bukola and the actress used to be close friends until recently, when she got married–for the second time.

3-0 Giant step towards semi-finals

Real Madrid beat Galatasaray at home and are one step closer to their third consecutive European Cup semi-final. Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema before the end of the first half hour and from Higuain in 72nd minute, earned a win that was much deserved both in terms of how they played and the chances they created. Three goals scored, by each of the three forwards who played, and none conceded to take into the second leg, in which there will be no Xabi Alonso or Ramos due to suspension. A giant step towards progressing in a Bernabeu that remains unconquered.

Eating right for every part of your body

MARCH 27, 2013

Eating right for every part of your body
Ours is an age of high stress, what with all sorts of issues clogging our thinking, keeping us awake at night, and driving us silly during the day.
We worry about identity theft, internal and global insecurity occasioned by terrorism, economic issues, health scare… The list is endless.
We engage in work—in the office, while commuting, at home, everywhere. Obviously, modernity and its trappings have come at a huge price, and we all seem caught up in its grip.
In our bid to catch up in one area of life or the other, we have become so busy that we engage in diet of convenience, eating foods that are lacking in essential nutrients that should nourish every part of our bodies to good health and keep them going against all odds.
Our diets, because we get and consume them mostly on the go, are now full of sugars, fats and empty calories that literally bloat us up, giving us unwieldy weight that can make the scale squeal uneasily.
Yet, experts assure that we can help our body realise its full potential by eating right, such that, in a short while and henceforth, our health sill peak, literally from head to toe.

12 facts about Nigeria that will shock you

Many  years ago, a brilliant lecturer of mine (who is late now ) said something about Nigeria that I waved aside as an exaggerated expression of patriotism. He told my class then that he had travelled to many places in the world and had finally come to the conclusion that Nigeria is the most blessed nation on the planet. I knew Nigeria was blessed but I couldn’t understand how he could boldly claim that top position for Nigeria: yes we have oil, gas, landmass–in fact, abundant natural and human resources, but was that enough?

Fast-forward to September, 2011. By this time, my doubt had given rise to a burning desire to know the specific things that make us great as a nation–that make us the most blessed people on earth. I felt if I did find these specific facts, they would need to be shared with Nigerians and the world in spectacular ways. To achieve this aim, I discussed the idea with my friend  and our subsequent brainstorming led to the birth of The  http://naijanewsvilla.blogspot.com/ to promote our cultural and latest news to Nigerians and the world. It’s been eighteen months of rigorous research since, and now I am convinced that my late lecturer was right.

DELTA MASSACRE: 50 KILLED

Men of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) have allegedly sacked Ayakoromo village, the country home of 'General' John Togo, wanted leader of the Niger-Delta Liberation Force (NDLF).

More than 50 people have been killed in the military operations that commenced on Wednesday.

A source within the town revealed that though Togo hails from Ayakoromo, he does not operate from the community.

The invasion, according to him, might not be unconnected with the fact that men of the JTF could not lay their hands on Togo when they raided his camps in Ayakoromo and Okirika on Wednesday.

The JTF had on Tuesday declared Togo wanted and warned people habouring him to turn him in to avoid being caught in the crossfire with the ex-militants. When Togo could not be arrested, the JTF led by Major-General Charles Omoregie, reportedly overran suspected camps being operated by Togo on Wednesday.
